Topic: Off-shore structures and systems for the extraction of renewable energy of the sea: wind- waves – marine currents.
The dominant Wave-Energy Converter technology has not emerged yet. The research on Wave Energy Converters (WECs) is ongoing in order to understand which of the many existing technologies is the most promising. A wave resource characterization and a site assessment are necessary in order to provide an estimate of the available energy resource. The characterization is done at the scale of Mediterranean Sea and in detail in some areas, including the Tuscany region. The technology selected for the Mediterranean Sea are analysed with numerical and experimental models.
