UNIFI for AMMIRARE project
Within AMMIRARE project, the University of Florence will primarily focus on:
1) Component 4.1 - developing numerical and experimental models to study the interaction between wave motion and Posidonia oceanica. These models will allow the evaluation of how the presence of the plant, both rooted and washed up, influences coastal dynamics. The ultimate goal is to provide the administration with a decision-support tool for the management of the coastal environment, even in the context of climate change scenarios.
2) Component 4.2 - developing AMMIRARE platform. It gathers all the data collected in the previous components and organizes them into a technological tool that supports the regions of the cross-border area in the decision-making processes related to coastal scenarios and the adaptation path to climate change that needs to be addressed. This result allows regions, as well as other territorial institutions and organizations responsible for coastal management, to make informed decisions about the potential effects that may arise concerning coastal governance from a naturalistic, environmental, geomorphological, ecological, and socioeconomic perspective.
